James Ramos for the 40th Assembly seat
(Rancho Cucamonga) – The San Bernardino Sun, one of the most influential newspapers in San Bernardino County, has endorsed James Ramos for State Assembly.
“With Republican Assemblyman Marc Steinorth’s exit from the state Legislature, voters in the highly competitive 40th Assembly district have a chance to influence the direction of the state.
[…]
Ramos, meanwhile, has been a highly influential member of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors since his election in 2012.
To the credit of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, the county has remained fiscally responsible even in the face of mounting obligations.
[…]
[W]e think that Ramos is in a stronger position to effect positive change in Sacramento.
For Ramos, the top priorities are straightforward, practical and most importantly achievable: promoting economic development, particularly in the Inland Empire, taking on the statewide homelessness problem and promoting public safety.
Considering how successful Ramos and his colleagues on the Board of Supervisors have been in keeping the county on a prudent fiscal trajectory, we encourage Ramos to bring the same mindset to Sacramento.
If elected, Ramos is probably in a better position to influence fellow Democrats to exercise restraint and balancing competing priorities in a fiscally responsible way.
Fundamentally, voters in the district, which includes Redlands, Rancho Cucamonga and San Bernardino, must choose a candidate who is most likely to effectively advocate for them in a state Legislature that too often overlooks them. With that in mind, Ramos is the better choice.”
